Here is what he had to day about our 3 Acres Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012
Bald Hills 3 Acres Bannockburn Central Otago Pinot Noir 2012 ****
Full, dark, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour, youthful in appearance. The nose is full, upfront and voluminous with aromas of dark raspberry fruit with notes of liquorice, herb-infused plums, Asian spices and oak. Full-bodied, juicy and bright flavours of dark berry fruit and black plums full the mouth, revealing spice and oak elements. Fine, grainy tannins provide a dry-texture, enveloping structure and presence. The acidity is restrained and the flavours are fulsome, spreading across the palate, carrying through to a long, dry, textural finish featuring oak and earthy nuances. This is a full, bold Pinot Noir with dark, spicy flavours and plenty of mouthfeel. Match with slow-cooked red meat dishes over the next 4-5 years. An approx. equal blend of clones 10/5 and 115, destemmed, given a cold soak and fermented to 13.7% alc., the wine aged 9 months in 31% new French oak. Winemaker: Peter Bartle.
