Jack Frost is about! Frosts continue in Central Otago but are not yet of concern to vineyard operators. Until the soil reaches 10 degrees the vines remain dormant. Beneath the soil surface though vine activity continues in preparation for the big moment.

Meanwhile under-vine weed spraying has commenced and mowing the sward between rows will follow shortly. It is crucial to keep the vineyard free of weeds and tall grasses so that freezing air can move through once the tiny buds on the vines receive their message to expand and begin growth. Hopefully frosts will have ceased by then!
