Our Tasting Evening held at Eichardt’s Private Hotel in Queenstown
The dinner was held in the intimate upstairs dining room which holds just 20 people at a single long table, elegantly set with silver, crystal and damask, the atmosphere that of a fine turn of the century private home. A log fire surrounded by deep armchairs with plump cushions at one end of the room accommodated early arrivals.
The sommelier greeted guests with a welcoming glass of Bald Hills Friends and Lovers Rosé while we introduced ourselves and enjoyed chatting informally before the dinner began.
Eichardts had chosen an inspired menu and matched the courses with Bald Hills wines, even including the much lauded 2005 Pinot Noir as a finale.
This small private hotel on the shores of Lake Wakatipu is renowned for it’s beautifully appointed downstairs bar serving a range of drinks – wines, spirits and cocktails as well as an inviting tapas selection. Only a privileged few however have the pleasure of using the private upstairs dining room, which made this event one to cherish in our history.
