Where can I stay?
There are several Homestays and B&B's in Bannockburn (contact the Cromwell Information Centre on 03 445 0212). A very pleasant self-catering flat is at Aurum Homestay (03 445 4024)  |  visit Aurum Homestay website

The nearest town, only ten minutes away, is Cromwell where there are many hotels, motels and B&B's to choose from. Also, Bannockburn is less than an hour by car from Queenstown and Wanaka and about half an hour from Alexandra so the choice is huge and covers all price ranges.

What about food?
Cromwell is home to Feast - an informal, relaxed eatery with excellent hospitality and great food (03 445 3020) Closer to Bannockburn, try the Bannockburn Pub (03 445 1615) for simple lunches and dinners and a happy informal atmosphere. For lunches, we enjoy Carrick Winery (03 445 3480) and Mt Difficulty (03 445 3445). The newly opened Bannockburn Café (03 445 1553), just past the Pub on the right, is great for coffee, lunch and breakfast on the weekend.

For the best local fare, we thoroughly recommend Saffron restaurant in Arrowtown, Cuisine Magazine's Restaurant of the Year, 2007. It is an innovative and stylish eatery, respected for its exemplary cuisine and service. Make sure to book ahead as this is a sensational dining experience and thus very popular! One of our favourites in Wanaka is "Missy's Kitchen", dine@missyskitchen.co.nz with its consistently delicious food, great views and lovely open fire  surrounded by leather sofas for that pre-dinner drink.
