Earlier this month, the talented Sam Kim from Wine Orbit reviewed our two most recently released Central Otago Pinot Noirs, the 3 Acres 2013 and the Single Vineyard 2013. Sam Kim has been involved in the New Zealand wine and hospitality industry for the past 25 years. He is a senior judge at the New Zealand International Wine Show, the Royal Easter Show Wine Awards, the Spiegelau International Wine Competition, and the Cowra Wine Show.

Wine Orbit is a bi-monthly subscription publication featuring wine from New Zealand and around the world.

All wines are tasted blind by Sam Kim, and the notes are solely written by him unless otherwise stated. Each wine is rated out of 20-points then converted to 100-point and five-star scales – two of the most effective and easy to understand rating systems. Wines are tasted using Riedel Ouverture Magnum and Riedel Ouverture White Wine glasses. Wine Orbit is about highlighting wine excellence, therefore, wines scoring below 81 points (3.5 stars) are not published.

Wine Review

This is a stylish, complex pinot exhibiting gorgeous aromas of dark cherry, plum, floral and hints of game and vanillin oak. The palate is concentrated and supple showing superb harmony and integration, leading to an extremely long, finely dry finish. The wine is sumptuous and generous while remaining pure and elegant. At its best: now to 2022. $57.00. 14%.
