Buds are bursting!
A few days of sun and warmer temperatures have inspired the vines to leap into action spot on time, which is normally about the 5th or 6th of October year after year. About 40% of the furry buds have burst open and are leafing up rapidly. The others will follow suit during the next day or two. As is usually the case in our little corner of the world, the “cold change” forecast for Central Otago dashed through with a hiss and a roar, dropping 5 mm of rain before the vineyard was restored to its usual sunny self.
