Crafted in an off-dry style this Pinot Gris displays fragrant aromas of white peach, nashi pear and apple with toffee and honey notes. The palate has a silky and juicy entry with ripe pear, peach and sweet mandarin. Complex, mouthfilling and nicely textured with balanced acidity and a long sweet tangelo finish.
The Japanese word 'Kirameki' signifies the rocks that shimmer alongside the one hectare of sloping Pinot Gris vines at the Northern tip of our vineyard.
Stylish and complex, the engaging bouquet shows ripe stone fruit, dried herb, lime peel, poached pear and oatmeal aromas, leading to a concentrated palate displaying outstanding weight and persistency. The fruit for this 'Kirameki' Pinot Gris was hand-harvested on 17 April 2022 (23.2 brix) from one hectare of sloping pinot gris vines at the northern tip of our vineyard that sit alongside the shimmering rocks, known as 'Kirameki' in Japanese.
The fruit was destemmed and crushed, then whole bunch pressed to tank for cold settling for two days.The juice was then racked and inoculated with selected wine yeasts and fermented in a stainless steel tankto retain the varietal and fruit characteristics.The fermentation was stopped retaining 9.5 grams/Litre of residual sugar to enhance palate weight but also to balance acidity.
